LHFC is run by our members and everyone is welcome to volunteer their time to help us out. Whether it’s improving our venue, keeping our books, supporting our IT and website, or running our marketing campaigns, we need your skills!
You don’t need to stand for election to volunteer for LHFC but if you’re thinking of running for an elected position in the future, volunteering is a great way to get experience in how the club works.
You can volunteer by filling in this form here
What skills does LHFC need?
LHFC needs a wide variety of skills to run effectively! If you want to volunteer with us, it’s highly likely we’ll be able to find you something to do. Examples (not exhaustive!) of the kind of thing we need include:
- IT skills who can troubleshoot our IT infrastructure – for example offering tech support when something goes wrong with our booking and payment systems.
- Design skills to support our marketing team in creating content for LHFC’s promotional campaigns
- Experience in fundraising and grant applications to help the club increase its revenues.
- Joinery and carpentry skills to help us upgrade our venue
- Numeracy and meticulousness to help with preparing the club’s financial administration
- Events management skills to help us run our one-off events like Fight Night
How are volunteers selected?
While we are always grateful for assistance, it is always up to the Management Committee to consider whether to bring you in as a volunteer. They will make this decision based on what we are trying to achieve this year.
Is there a minimum time commitment?
No! You can give as much or as little time as you like. We do just ask that if you agree to something you do your best to make it happen. Of course you can always ask for help, and as a volunteer you can stand down whenever you like.
Are volunteers always on the Management Committee?
All Committee positions are voluntary but not all volunteers need to join the Committee. The Committee will let you know if they want to invite you to join them. Generally this will be people volunteering to take on particular responsibilities such as the Quartermaster, Head of Marketing or Head of Fundraising roles.
Joining the Committee means you will have a bigger say in the day to day running of the club, but will also be expected to attend regular (usually monthly) online meetings. Otherwise you will probably be invited to attend meetings when they’re relevant to your activities.
If you’re not on the Management Committee you’ll normally be assigned to the Committee member who has overall responsibility for the activities you’re helping out with. They will be your main point of contact.
